Was Bitcloud a scam

No — just a prematurely launched idea with no working core mechanism. It was ambitious, naive, and technically shallow, but not fraudulent.

Is this project the same as BitClout (DeSo)?

Not even close. BitClout (2021) was a different project that ended in fraud charges. Bitcloud (2014) never launched anything live. Entirely separate entities.

Are cloudcoins still a thing?

No. There was never a working token, blockchain, or live protocol. Cloudcoins were part of the design fiction.

Who ran the original project?

Two pseudonymous Reddit users: u/LiberateMen (developer) and kmoneylongshanks (promoter). No real identities confirmed.
